The School of Digital Arts (SODA) shows Manchester Met’s commitment to bridging creativity and technology. This brand-new building is a £35 million investment and features spaces to collaborate, specialist facilities, including a UX Suite, film studios, green screens, edit suites, sound, music and production studios, a cinema, and a gallery.

Fostering industry engagement and growth
We also have the Centre for Enterprise (CfE), an award-winning, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to harnessing academic knowledge for business engagement, innovation, and growth for SMEs and entrepreneurs. The Centre has worked with over 2,000 SMEs and won funding bids of over £40 million since 2012.
Within CfE, we have the Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI), a UK Government Innovation Accelerator programme led by Manchester Met and funded through the nationwide £100 million Government Innovation Accelerator. CDI is directed towards implementing initiatives for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Northwest region, focusing on four strategic strands: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Industrial Digitalisation, and Immersive Technology. This initiative aims to create a supercluster of digital innovation, expertise and skills development for the region to become a beacon in the UK for digital innovation. As part of Manchester Met’s commitment to promoting technology among businesses in the Northwest, we are organising an event in collaboration with Bayes Business School. The event focuses on guiding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on leveraging AI tools to creatively solve business problems and seize new opportunities.
Manchester Met is also involved in a 1.2 million major project in partnership with other Northwest universities that will develop cutting-edge cybersecurity research to support the region’s businesses and economic growth.
